Dear Families:
As some of you may have heard, Truman Elementary School experienced heating issues today, resulting in uncomfortable temperatures in the building. I want to assure you that at no time were students unsafe. The safety and well-being of our children remain our highest priority.
The issue has been resolved, and heat will be restored in the school tomorrow. If, for any reason, the heating system is not fully operational in the morning, we will notify families immediately with the next steps.
I understand how concerning it can be to learn about today’s heating issue, and I sincerely apologize for the lack of timely communication. Our families deserve accurate, prompt updates, and in this instance, we fell short of that expectation.
Our facilities team worked diligently throughout the day to address the problem. As soon as I was informed, I collaborated with building administration and our facilities staff to identify the cause and ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff.
We will review our procedures and protocols with staff to improve communication moving forward. The District takes full responsibility for today’s gap in communication.
Thank you for your patience as we work to correct this issue and strengthen our processes. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Nadia A. Nashir
Superintendent of Schools
